Crew Personal Logs
Diaries of the crew on this mission.
Small crew, medium ship, big problems
It’s been a while, been busy. Rhyn keeps trying to get me to take the ship and just leave. I like my crew mates. Yes even the Vesk. She’s nicer then the ones we grew up with. I do agree with him on one point though, I have a feeling we are being monitored. Our first two delivery trips for this guy has ended up pretty much the same way. Everyone there is gone. Just gone. Once is a situation, twice may be coincidence, three times is a pattern. I don’t want to make this a pattern. On our last delivery we discovered something very, very bad. We decided to tell someone who could stop the Corpse Fleet from accessing and using a very dangerous weapon. They gave us an investigation mission and some credits. Otherwise, everything is going well, new, faster, more agile ship, and two very good weapons. The rifle has some very good uses.
Spies Like Us
So… we got a new ship!Β But, before that, we were trying to get the Rambler fixed up.Β Lexx went off to return our undeliverable shipment, and was able to get 1000 credits for just our sensor logs– perhaps they will not only believe us, but try to stay clear of that system.Β I suspect they will keep at it though.Β But, no longer our problem.Β Our problem was a rather large hole, barely patched well enough to get the Rambler back to Khefak Station.Β That, and all those tablets we liberated prior to the Corpse Fleet arriving at that Osiris Station.Β So, we contacted the Stewards, who promised to send someone to meet us within the week.Β They were as good as their word and managed to get here in two days.
After going over the info on the tablets, and taking a look at our hull (and trying to ignore I-9 zipping through our meeting room with what looked like a dripping copper pipe that had already been in use, and Brock asking if we needed the three human Stewards removed from the ship), the head Steward Deputy Venn asked us to join the Stewards.Β We declined after listening to the requirements, but offered to help them from time to time, but as our own crew– like spies!Β They needed a ship to go back to that system and see what was happening on L476.Β We were the obvious choice for such a mission, but, sadly, the Rambler would need three weeks to be fixed up, minimum, and would likely be recognized by the Corpse Fleet.Β Of course, the obvious solution was a new ship!Β And not only did they give us a new ship (to keep!), they gave us 8000 credits to get anything we needed that wasn’t on the new ship!Β It’s a lovely thing: Vagabond-class Medium explorer with nearly everything we’d had on our Rambler wishlist and then some.Β But it’s bigger.Β And they let us name it.Β We’re now moving our stuff from the Rambler to P.W.S. Please Don’t Shoot Us.Β They even helped Brock move himself from one ship to the other.Β I’m glad– he and I-9 seem good for Widget, if that makes sense.
Even if the rumors that they somehow built a casino inside the hull of the Rambler were true.Β Just shows what good engineers they are!
Oh, anyway, we’re shopping quickly, while Rennie is cunningly disguising a few of his station crew who look like us to be hanging around on the Rambler for a few days while the hull does get finished.Β I’m not sure if the Stewards paid them, but I suspect they did, or at least, they got the old Rambler out of the deal.Β Maybe it will be used as a loaner!
Addendum
I see the transponder on the Rambler is now saying “Widget’s Party Wagon.”Β I don’t think he did it– I’m guessing it was, well, pretty much anyone at this point.
Woo?

Hit Me with Your Best Shot
So, that was terrifying.Β We had three Necrogliders chase us through the asteroid field.Β I think we lost half of our shields at one point, and some of the hull isn’t looking too good.Β Lucky we were still in our environmental suits from the space station, as we lost life support for a minute as well.Β As moments passed though, our VI and robot even joined in to help, and I think if we end up in a skirmish again, we’ll know what they can manage.Β I’m pleased to say we got away, though I’m wondering if the Eoxians just decided we weren’t a threat, or that we wouldn’t make it out of the system.Β Thank Triune for our drift engine!
We actually had an encounter in drift space.Β For a while, it seemed we had been followed by an asteroid.Β Not entirely weird, since we did come directly out of an asteroid field.Β However, we’d been in drift over a week already.Β So, we sped up.Β So did the big rock.Β Then we started to make course corrections.Β So did the rock.Β We decided, after some scans, that it was a telelith.Β They are usually hungry. And, while it probably couldn’t eat us in one go, we were already limping back to Akiton.Β Sresaka decided to dump our garbage in its path.Β It was happy to clean that up.Β And, my whiskers, it had a huge maw!Β It appeared to unfold itself to eat.
It’s good to be back on Akiton.Β Since we are going to have to get the hull repaired, I have some ideas for different shielding and armor.Β And I think Sre would like a few better weapons– the Rambler’s are not the best, but I think I saw at least one here at Khefak Depot that was originally meant for mining that would be great!

I’ve discovered that Widget has mission log.Β That he posts on the Infosphere.Β Β He has a fairly decent following, though following what he’s actually saying is a bit difficult if you are sober.Β Β And, I’ve discovered that he recently won a lottery.Β I don’t even know how he entered the lottery, as we were in Drift at the time.
