Woo!
I should have remembered– part of why I don’t live on Akiton anymore, is because of the dust storms that give me a headache! So, we had one of those. But first, we were still trying to find that goblin in the ductwork, because he didn’t reemerge from the building (that we could see) and we could not find the computer or the records in the Aries office. We all tried jumping up to see the roof (resulted in Widget getting singed). Turns out that the weapon on top of the building was still working just fine, but we couldn’t really tell if the goblin had been up there. Widget and I climbed into the ductwork and checked a large portion of the buildings innards. The goblin had been there, as I got stuck in a “trap” made of tin cans. No idea where the cans came from, but they were loud enough to cover the sounds of the wind. Wind?!? Wait, is that lightning?
We scrambled back out quickly and yelled over the storm that we needed to go now! Ash, who had “programmed” the safety measures for the ship, admitted that he maybe forgot to allow our impromptu crew access to the ship’s computers. He was unable to unlock it from the outside. The ysoki inside were panicking as the ship kept shouting in Abyssal at them. Or near them, anyway. It took all of us to get that hatch open. I was able to deactivate what was holding the door shut (briefly), but needed the entire crew to hold onto me so I could. We tumbled in through the door just before the hurricane-strength winds blew a few tons of sand in through the opening. I really hate those storms!
Looks like it will take us at least a day to clear the Abyssal out of the computers now. The ysoki we left on board were acting like there was no oxygen left on the ship, even though there would not have been a problem for a day or so. They were sealed inside for maybe twenty minutes? I’m just glad this safety feature didn’t hit us in deep space!
Widget is telling me some things that would prevent this from happening in the future, as well as speed up ship repairs….

Woo.
I was wrong again. We grabbed four willing Ysoki (I think two are my cousins!), and divided up the crew– Lexx and the Ysoki were going to try and dig up the necroglider while the rest of us went to turn off the power in the Aries facility. We’d figured out from the sensors that there were eight lifeforms inside, but were pretty sure by then that the warnings we were receiving were just because we’d not shut the power off earlier.
While we were still arguing about who would leave the ship to turn the power off, Lexx and company returned to let us know that new tire tracks were visible around the area of the glider crash. So, we left the Ysoki to monitor our progress inside the facility and headed to the power, and hopefully, the computer mainframe.
Turns out all eight lifeforms were space goblins, all in the administration building. I had just shut off the power, which apparently caused the computers to “break.” Seven were reasonable enough and tossed a computer monitor out the office building’s front door upon request. Number 8 was a scary individual, causing our negotiations to turn into a shooting match. Lucky for me, the goblins assumed I was on their side. They mostly shot at Ash! We picked off seven, but I think the scary shrieking one is hiding in the duct work. We can’t let him go, since we don’t know who sent them, and the goblins left two very nice trucks behind that would look great in our empty cargo bay!
We’re going to have to decide quickly whether the computer records, the goblin, or our own ship is more important to deal with first. The Ysoki cannot get our doors open for us– the ship is considering them hostile and has suddenly started speaking to them in Abyssal! Is that even a thing?
Also, Widget seems different all of a sudden. I hope he didn’t try to eat cake again…. Ow.
Ow. My poor brain. Ow!
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
Everything that’s wonderful is what I feel when we’re together
Brighter than a lucky penny
When you’re near the rain goes, disappears, dear
And I feel so fine
Just to know that you are mine
My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. . . .
