I was wrong again. We grabbed four willing Ysoki (I think two are my cousins!), and divided up the crew– Lexx and the Ysoki were going to try and dig up the necroglider while the rest of us went to turn off the power in the Aries facility. We’d figured out from the sensors that there were eight lifeforms inside, but were pretty sure by then that the warnings we were receiving were just because we’d not shut the power off earlier.
While we were still arguing about who would leave the ship to turn the power off, Lexx and company returned to let us know that new tire tracks were visible around the area of the glider crash. So, we left the Ysoki to monitor our progress inside the facility and headed to the power, and hopefully, the computer mainframe.
Turns out all eight lifeforms were space goblins, all in the administration building. I had just shut off the power, which apparently caused the computers to “break.” Seven were reasonable enough and tossed a computer monitor out the office building’s front door upon request. Number 8 was a scary individual, causing our negotiations to turn into a shooting match. Lucky for me, the goblins assumed I was on their side. They mostly shot at Ash! We picked off seven, but I think the scary shrieking one is hiding in the duct work. We can’t let him go, since we don’t know who sent them, and the goblins left two very nice trucks behind that would look great in our empty cargo bay!
We’re going to have to decide quickly whether the computer records, the goblin, or our own ship is more important to deal with first. The Ysoki cannot get our doors open for us– the ship is considering them hostile and has suddenly started speaking to them in Abyssal! Is that even a thing?
Also, Widget seems different all of a sudden. I hope he didn’t try to eat cake again…. Ow.
Ow. My poor brain. Ow!
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
Everything that’s wonderful is what I feel when we’re together
Brighter than a lucky penny
When you’re near the rain goes, disappears, dear
And I feel so fine
Just to know that you are mine
My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. . . .

Well, we finally got to go into the Aries facility. It was supposed to have a staff of at least six people, but we couldn’t find a single one! I got the power restored, and even though Ash managed to erase all the security footage (suspicious!), the sensors had picked up Eoxian fighters before they went down. There were lots of laser blast marks on the walls, but we didn’t find any blood or bodies. We did find a necroglider buried past the cockpit in the dirt near the compound, but we couldn’t dig through to see if the pilot was inside! I was sure it was Veritech. Sadly, I bet Widget 10 credits (I don’t know where he got the money for his end of the bet). He’ll waste it on stuff a drone can’t really use, like cake. Poor thing.
So, we took the stuff, and people, we were shipping back to Khefak Depot. The elf guy kindly gave us half the credits we would have earned for a successful mission, so there’s that.
Oh, and we weren’t even able to go back and have another look at the necroglider– either we left the lights on at the facility, or it’s already restaffed, but we were warned away. I’m sure the glider is gone by now, regardless.
We ate at a great Ysoki BBQ restaurant called the Sewer Pit. We managed to overhear the name “Veritech” and I think that was the name associated with a small transport we saw at Khefek Depot two days ago. I bet they aren’t friends of Aries. Our mob elf contact supplied us with two new friends! Onslo and Lucius have been sent along with us to help deliver the cargo to the walled Aries facility.
We traveled back through the delta along to the Aries site… there are no power signature readings, the building is shot up and abandoned, and the entrance doors are blown off completely.
It’s a trap!
